## Notes
Visa waiver is valid until 31 December, 2026. 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit to a third country or region (including Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan) using any mode of transport. Must have a confirmed onward ticket/itinerary, and enter through 1 of 64 approved ports. During which, may freely travel within the 24 provinces permitted for visa-free transit and engage in tourism, business, and visits.

## Can this stay be extended from inside the country?
- Possible inside: **limited**
- Must leave the country: **yes**

The 30-day visa-free entry is not routinely extendable. The Exit-Entry Administration may grant additional time only for genuine emergencies such as serious illness or a natural disaster, on a case-by-case basis.

**Cost detail.** Roughly CNY 160–200 (about USD 22–28), paid at the Public Security Bureau. Published figures start as low as CNY 50 depending on city and visa type.

**How.** Apply at the local Public Security Bureau Exit-Entry Administration before your 30 days end, with documentary proof of the emergency. Approval is not guaranteed.

**If you cannot extend.** For a planned stay beyond 30 days, apply for an L visa before travelling — an L visa can be extended once by about 30 days, a visa-free entry cannot.
